Everyone is struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic in the Philippines. Among the affected are the less fortunate families who are struggling to make a living. Fortunately, there are many Good Samaritan who are always reaching out to help people in need. Among them is this police officer, whose kindness and generosity moved the hearts of people on social media.

Earlier this week, thousands of netizens were inspired with the story of Police Lieutenant Jojo Paguia. A Facebook post went viral detailing how the kindhearted police officer helped out an elderly man who is struggling to make ends meet. According to the post, Paguia encountered the man while he was selling bananas.

Even though he’s already frail, the elderly man is still trying to make a living by selling bananas. He walks under the scorching sun while carrying a heavy basket on his shoulder. When Officer Paguia saw him on the road, he couldn’t help but take pity on the old man’s situation.

Paguia volunteered to buy all of the old man’s bananas. He even gave him a little extra money to bring home to his family. According to the kindhearted cop, what matters is that the elderly man can finally be at home, safe with his loved ones.

“Umuwi ka na tatang. Papakyawin ko na po iong mga paninda mo. Tirik ang araw kaya wag na po kayo maglakad sa kalsada para di na po kayo mapagod saka hindi na kayo makasagap ng virus sa makakasalamuha mo,” says the kindhearted cop.

During the communiTy quarantine, the inter-agency task force has prohibited elderly people, individuals under 21 years, and people with pre-existing conditions from going outside due to the risk of transmission. Nevertheless, this elderly man took the risk just to provide for his family. We take our hats off to you, lolo!

Buknoy Glamurr, Ginamit pa ang Namayapang Guro Niya Para Magpaawa, Pero Di ito Umubra!

Published

Online influencers enjoy the glitz and glam of social media. But as public figures, their name and reputation are also hanging by a thread. That being said, online influencers should exercise caution in everything they say or do, because a simple mistake can cost them their career. This is exactly what happened to online star Andrew Luis Lapid, more popularly known as Buknoy Glamurr.

Buknoy Glamurr is a rising star on Youtube and Facebook who become popular for his hilarious vlogs. However, earlier this week, many fans were disappointed after Buknoy belittled tricycle drivers. In one of his vlogs, he implied that being a tricycle driver is not a ‘decent’ job, and they should strive hard for a better livelihood.

“Ang gusto ko talagang sabihin sa inyo is wag kayong sumuko na mangarap. Wag na wag kayong sumuko na tuparin ang mga pangarap ninyo kasi kung hindi kayo magsu-sumikap sa buhay, walang-wala kayong mararating tulad nito,” says Buknoy, who even asked the unsuspecting tricycle driver to say hi on his vlog.

As expected, this immediately backfired. Many netizens criticized the 16-year-old vlogger for his disappointing views about tricycle driver. In just a matter of days, he received thousands of criticisms saying that he is ‘insensitive’ and ‘privileged.’ He also gained criticisms for allegedly using his deceased teacher to gain sympathy from the netizens.

The son of the deceased teacher spoke up against Buknoy. According to him, the online influencer is obviously just using his deceased mother amid the issue.

“Ma’am Crisel passed away several months ago even before this pandemic happened, kaya ‘yung video na naka-post bago niya i-private ay isang malaking bulls**t at walang sense. The audacity of this “influencer” to use someone para gamiting bait para maawa sa kanya yung mga tao or kung ano mang reason kung bakit niya pinost, pinalaki niya lang lalo yung situation.”

Shortly after the issue surfaced on social media, Buknoy Glamurr immediately issued a public apology on his Youtube channel. He claimed accountability for his actions, and claimed that he does not mean to belittle tricycle drivers.

In spite of his public apology, the damage has been done. Before the issue spread like wildfire, Buknoy already amassed more than 500,000 subscribers on Youtube. But now, his subscriber count is down to 182,000.

The transaction was smooth and the customer immediately paid. As proof that the customer has already received the product, Marites’ husband took a photo of her while holding the mangoes. However, this did not sit well with Marites and she complained about it on social media:

“Sa mg customers natin dyan, wag gayahin ito sana man lang ayusin mo panamit mo, babae ka alam mo may magdedeliver sayo. Magsuot kayo maayos customers, nakita ko to sa cellphone mismo ng asawa ko hindi ko alam bakit nya pinicturan lalaki eh siya kasi pinagdeliver ko kasi dami ko inaasikaso. Be aware customers.”

Based on her post, it seems like Marites was not happy with the way her customer dressed. She even lectured the customer to be mindful of the way they dress especially when receiving their deliveries. But Marites’ post backfired incredibly.

Many people criticized her for shaming her customer. Netizens also claimed that the customer is not obligated to change the way she dress, especially because she’s only staying at home. Due to this publicized post, some customers even threatened to boycott this stingy online seller.
