Gamot Laban sa Coronavirus, Natagpuan sa Dugo ng mga Survivors

As of March 22, more than 100,000 people all over the world have been infected with COVID-19, more popularly known as coronavirus. This dreaded disease came from a wet market in Wuhan City, Hubei Province in China. Ever since the coronavirus cases spiked, medical experts are already at work to find a cure against COVID-19 fast.

With the death toll quickly rising, experts knew that they are racing against the clock. Brilliant minds from all over the world are joining forces to develop a cure for coronavirus, and it seems like what they're searching for has been under their nose the whole time.

According to reports, the key lies in the people who have recovered from coronavirus. Experts found that that the blood of the survivors is the key ingredient in developing a cure against the virus. In the absence of any cure, doctors are relying on the survivors' plasma for hope.

This method requires harvesting the survivor's plasma. During this process, experts will also be able to harvest the antibodies they used to fight against the virus. This is known as a convalescent serum, and it has been used in other epidemics before such as Ebola and Spanish flu.

Because of this, more and more recovered people are donating their plasma. Doctors advised them to rest for at least two weeks to recuperate from the virus. Among them is this woman, who was ready to donate her plasma after 13 days in quarantine:

"I'm physically prepared to donate plasma. Also, I'm calling for patients who are in a situation similar to me to donate their plasma. I believe patients who have overcome a difficult period would like to try their best to help other patients."
